DESCRIPTION

I am looking for romance and gentleness in this particular painting.This is drawn directly on the canvas (the way I like to begin) in varying shades of blue and mauve. This was partly inspired by a print I saw once in my mother's cellar.  It was a young woman standing by a garden gate.  I imagine that this young woman is waiting for someone.  The fallen strap is an indication that she has been waiting for some time...what do you imagine when looking at this painting?If you would like to see more of my work visit http://www.elstewart.com
