This is a Cheyenne Scout and his scout "pony". The scouts of any nation are the eyes and ears of the tribe. They are master trackers and survivalists. Proven warriors and masters of concealment. Much like military recon scouts of today but w/ a deeper attachment to Mother Earth.Scouting ahead of their people to find the best hunting, food gathering and passage as well as to warn of impending danger or its possibility. I think of the biblical Watchman in much the same context.
